We have recently reviewed and updated the Somerset Golf Captains Privacy Notice which is available on the website by clicking here.
Under the updated policy you have the right to “unsubscribe” from global emails and newsletters which are sent to all members.
In future, whenever you receive a global email or newsletter from Somerset Golf Captains, you can scroll down to the bottom where you will be given the option to “Unsubscribe” or “Manage my subscriptions”.
There are about 150 members who have previously registered online for matches, and have therefore already ticked the box to confirm that they have accepted the privacy notice and they will continue to receive global emails and newsletters, unless they “unsubscribe”.
However, there are also about 100 members who have not previously registered for matches (i.e.over the last 2 or 3 years) and have therefore not actively given their consent to receive global emails and newsletters in this way. These members will now be asked to reconfirm their subscriptions and accept the privacy notice.
In order to implement these changes, we will in future use a new piece of software (“MailPoet” a plug-in for WordPress) which will allow members to manage their subscription preferences whenever they receive a global email or newsletter from us.
You will therefore notice a different format for newsletters and global emails which you receive from Somerset Golf Captains. Comments welcome
We will, of course, continue to e-mail individual members directly for specific purposes; e.g .to confirm membership, match selection or clothing sales.
